The Story
From an early age, Brad enjoyed sketching, technical drawing and expressing his creative ideas. The positive feedback he received throughout his secondary school education encouraged him to pursue a career in Architectural Technology.
After graduating from Edinburgh Napier University with a degree in Architectural Technology, Brad joined CUBE Architecture, a main contractor and architectural practice based in Linlithgow. Working closely with the wider team, he gained valuable experience across new-build homes, house extensions, home improvements and bespoke garden rooms.
Brad then moved to WD Blair Associates in Bathgate, where he developed experience in the non-domestic sector. He worked alongside contractors delivering fit-out projects for pharmacies, offices and gyms. He also collaborated with West Lothian Council and WESLO to provide accessible adaptation solutions for their tenants.
He later joined JML Contracts in Auchterarder, where he expanded his knowledge of sustainable construction materials and managed both small- and large-scale residential projects. Drawing on the experience gained in his previous roles, Brad was able to develop an efficient and practical approach to his work. He also supported the civil engineering side of the business by preparing retaining-wall designs and general arrangement drawings for telecommunications mast sites.
After moving to GLM in Edinburgh, Brad broadened his experience in contract administration, helping to deliver projects ranging in value from £150,000 to £10million. Working alongside Architects and Building Surveyors also allowed him to develop further expertise in the repair, alteration and refurbishment of historic buildings.
Since joining Unwin Jones Partnership in Glasgow, Brad has continued to develop his knowledge of the commercial and hospitality sectors. As part of a collaborative design team, he has assisted with the technical design and detailing of hotels, restaurants and a variety of leisure facilities.
In his spare time, Brad enjoys taking part in running events, spending quality time with his family and finding new ways to spend money on his car — an enthusiasm that continues to receive considerably less support from his wife.
